PRESS RELEASE: CALL FOR CALM IN THE IMPASSE BETWEEN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINISTER AND THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE DISTRICT ASSEMBLIES COMMON FUND.

Our attention has been drawn to a purported leaked letter from the Minister
of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development to His
Excellency the President raising some issues of concern to him with regards
to the work of the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund.

In no certain terms, the leakage of such letters to the media is condemnable
and must not be encouraged.

The actors in the impasse, the Local Government Minster and the
Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund are very important
personalities in the local government sector and both play critical roles in
achieving our mutual objective of inclusive and effective decentralization
of power.

We commend members of the association for their conduct during this
period.

NALAG as a matter of concern wishes to further appeal to all members
(MMDCEs / Presiding Members / Assembly Members ), Stakeholders,
Actors, and most importantly the Media to cease fire and refrain from any
further conversations on the subject to avoid the aggravation of issues at
hand.

It is our prayer that the President resolves the issues amicably before the
upcoming District level elections which is a significant event on the
calendar of the local government sector.

SIGNED:
HON. ERIC NANA AGYEMANG-PREMPEH
(PRESIDENT, NALAG)
