NALAG ELECTS NEW NATIONAL EXECUTIVES COUNCIL (NEC) FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS

The National Association of Local Authorities of local Authorities of Ghana has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the Association for the next two years.

The Association held its National Executive Election during its 3-day 20th Biennial National Delegates Conference from Wednesday, June 13 to Friday, June 15, 2019 at Tyco City Hotel, Sunyani in the Bono Region of Ghana.

In a keenly contested election held at Conference Hall on Friday, Hon. Bismark Baisie Nkum, DCE for Gomoa West District Assembly      emerged victorious in the Presidential race polling 336 votes to beat the incumbent President, Hon. Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La.

The incumbent First Vice and Second Vice President, Hon. Williams Aduum, MCE for Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly and Hon. Evelyn Dansoa Boateng, Assembly Member of New Juabeng North Municipal respectively retained their positions respectively.

The Treasurer position was won by Hon. Boadu Seth Oduro, MCE for West Akim Municipal Assembly beating the two contestants from the Greater Accra Region.

The incumbent Women’s Caucus Representative, Hon. Evelyn Teiko Asenih lost her position to Hon. Mariam Iddrisu, MCE for Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly.

Eric Kwaku Kusi, DCE for Adansi North District Assembly and Fiagbaji S. Prince, PM for Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly took the lead respectively to become the Two Trustees among the six contesting delegates.

In all, 1250 delegates voted for 18 candidates who contested 7 various positions on the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association the Region which was supervised by the Regional Director of Electoral Commission (EC) in the Bono East Region.

Speaking to the media after the elections, the President-Elect, Bismark Baisie Nkum expressed joy for the confidence reposed in him by the National Delegates Conference which is the highest decision making body of the Association and promised to work closely with all executives as well as the immediate past executives to build a robust and well capacitated NALAG for Ghana, Africa and the world at large.
