CLGF-NALAG LED Workshop

Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) has been implementing a regional programme in West Africa, which supports Decentralization and Local Economic Development (LED) since 2013. The programme aimed at improving the capacity for local government  service  delivery  in  the  region  to  contribute  to  the  achievement  of  the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In 2016, with the support of the European Union, CLGF began implementing a project that aims to strengthen local government’s role as a partner in development with a focus on using Local Economic Development as a tool to localize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A workshop is now planned to share some of the key learning on this project and the wider context of LED implementation in Ghana.

The Ghana Local Economic Development workshop was held on 12th December at Erata Hotel, in Accra, Ghana which brought together the members of NALAG’s National Executive Committee (NEC), the Municipal and District Chief Executives of the four Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) which participated in CLGF pilot work on LED, as well as other key actors and local decision makers.
