The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana held its Biennial National Delegates Conference at the KNUST Great Hall, Kumasi, from 1st to 3rd June, 2022.

The National Delegates Conference is the highest policy making body of NALAG. This body is made up of five accredited delegates from all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) namely; Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCEs), Presiding Members (PMs) and three Assembly Members one of whom must be a female. The Conference meets every two years. It sets policy and programme priorities for the future and elects the National Executive Council (NEC). The conference also discusses topical issues on local governance and decentralization.

The theme for this years’ conference was, “Building the Future Together; The New Role of Local Authorities.”

Among the participants were Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), C.E.Os and Heads of Decentralized Institutions, Chiefs and Academia, and other foreign dignitaries.

His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana was the Special Guest of Honour. The Chairman for the event was Professor Joshua Ayarkwa, Professor of Construction Technology and Management at the Department of Construction Technology and Management at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
