Nalag Awards Night



In other to recognize and reward the efforts of individuals and organizations and all other stakeholders that have contributed enormously to the development of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana and the Decentralization Process in Ghana, “The decentralization and Local Governance Award” has been established to make this a reality. This awards ceremony would cover areas where most award schemes always overlook.

Twelve (12) astute personalities received awards on the night of The Launching of the NALAG WEEK CELEBRATION.

Speaking on the night, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the General Secretary of the Association, congratulated the award winners and added that the awards are the Association’s way of appreciating the hard work and effort of all partners and stakeholders of Decentralization Process in the country. In her remarks, she encouraged awardees and all other partners and stakeholders in the country to as much as possible, leave a mark in the Decentralization process of Ghana for which they will be remembered, honoured and recognized.

One of the award winners, Hon. Dominic Azumah, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development, on behalf of his colleagues expressed his gratitude to the Association for organizing the event. He recounted some of his experiences on with the Association and thanked NALAG for the recognition given them. “This means that, whenever you make a contribution in local governance in this country, someone somewhere is watching you,” he added. He called on all partners and stakeholders to do more in a deserving manner to receive such recognition from NALAG.
